The scenario: You get a flyer in the mail from a company offering to clean ALL of the air ducts at your home for only $99. Intrigued by the low price, you contact the company and set up an appointment.
When the company arrives at your house, the rep tries to sell you on a bunch of other services, including carpet cleaning or mold remediation, to improve the air quality inside your home. If you don’t bite at these invoice-increasing items, he gives your ducts a cursory cleaning before moving on to the next mark somewhere in your area.
That lowball offer should have been a red flag to avoid that firm. A reputable company will charge $400 to $1,000 to clean the ducts in a typical 2,000-square-foot house, says the National Air Duct Cleaners Association (NADCA). A quality job should take two pros, who’ll use specialized tools, anywhere from 2-3 hours and upwards of 8 hours to complete, depending on the size of the home.
Even more important to know is that there’s no proof that cleaning ducts prevents health problems, according to the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. Nor do studies conclusively show that dirty ducts increase levels of airborne particulates in a home. Still, there are times when you should get your ducts cleaned:
• Have the ductwork cleaned if it contains visible mold buildup or has debris coming out of supply registers, or if the ducts are infested with vermin. Check for problems by removing the registers and shining a flashlight into the ductwork.
• Consider having your ductwork professionally inspected if someone in your home is suffering from unexplained allergies or illness. Before you do that, however, a doctor should rule out other causes.
Is the air you breathe (truly) Clean?
How Clean is the Air You Breathe?
Fast, Efficient, and Affordable!
Do you ever wonder why just a few days after dusting your home, dust reappears? It could be coming from your air ducts. Whenever the heater or air conditioner go on, all is going to end up being blown in to your house. And you don't want that.
Indoor air pollution is a growing public health hazard with negative effects on millions of people around the globe. Research shows that it contributes to more than half of all illnesses including sinusitis, allergic rhinitis, asthma and more. Common household pollutants include dust, mold, pollen, rodent / insect remains and feces.
The average person spends approximately 90% of their time indoors, where pollutant levels are often two to five times higher than outdoors. The EPA has ranked indoor air pollution among the top five environmental risks to public health.

We don't just clean air ducts - we restore heating and air conditioning systems to superior cleanliness, including mechanical equipment and ductwork.
Duct Cleaning Q & A
Q: Why clean my air ducts?
A: No filter is 100% effective at filtering out contaminants from your duct system. As a result, every time your system turns on, the dust, pet dander, mites and other contaminants that settle in the ducts gets blown back into your home and into the air that you breathe. In addition, the process of heating or cooling your home creates the kind of temperature and humidity changes in your ducts that enable the growth of unhealthy mold, fungus and bacteria. The result being poor indoor air that an lead to increased symptoms for allergy sufferers.
Q: When should ducts be cleaned?
A: When anyone in your home or office has breathing difficulties such as asthma, allergies or emphysema, before moving into a new or pre-owned home, whenever you notice discolored areas around your vent covers, when you notice excessive dust on your furniture, if unusual odors are present when the furnace or air conditioning is running, after a fire, water loss or flooding and after remodeling or construction.
Q: What are the health benefits of duct cleaning?
A: Heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems have been shown to act as a collection source for a variety of contaminants that have the potential to affect health, such as mold, fungi, bacteria and very small particles of dust and debris. The removal of such contaminants from the HVAC system and home should be considered as one of the components in an overall plan to improve indoor air quality.
Q: Will duct cleaning reduce my energy bill?
A: Research by the U.S. EPA has demonstrated that HVAC system cleaning may allow systems to run more efficiently by removing debris from sensitive mechanical components. Clean, efficient systems are less likely to break down, have a longer life span and generally operate more efficiently than dirty systems.
