The Cleaning Process . . .

So how do we do it? How do we clean your carpets and upholstery? Do we wave a magic wand? Well, sort of. We do use a wand and we do like to think it's pretty magical. But there's more to it than that of course.

There are two primary methods to clean your carpets and upholstery:

Dry Cleaning or Hot Water Extraction.

Hot water extraction is recognized within the carpet cleaning industry as both the most effective and the most efficient procedure for cleaning carpets. Shaw Industries, the world's largest carpet manufacturer, recommends Hot Water Extraction.

Hot Water Extraction is just a fancy way of saying that a hot water cleaning solution under high pressure is forced into and then sucked out of the carpet. With this method, steam and hot water are injected under very high pressure into the carpet fiber, flushing out dirt and embedded soil. This method is also referred to as Steam Cleaning even though steam is not used.

Think vacuuming your carpet gets it clean? Think again. Even the best vacuum cleaner collects only a fraction of the dust, dirt and other allergens in your carpet, including pet dander and dust mites. Dust mites? You bet. There are billions of these tiny insects that thrive on the stuff your vacuum cleaner doesn't—and can't—get out of it. Ask any professional and they'll tell you that the only way to rid your carpet of these pests and harmful bacteria is Hot Water Extraction.

There are actually two different types of Hot Water Extraction: Portable Extraction, which is done with a small machine used for condos and high rise buildings. Or Truck Mount Extraction, which means a large cleaning machine is mounted in a truck or van.

Platinum Carpet Systems… is proud to offer Hot Water Extraction.

Upon arrival, our certified technician will inspect the areas to be cleaned along with the homeowner or business owner. During this "pre-cleaning inspection", the technician evaluates the condition of the carpet, identifies specific concerns of the owner and describes the process of cleaning in detail. During this evaluation, our  technician also establishes mutually agreed upon expectations with the customer to assure complete satisfaction.

The next step of the cleaning process is to move all furniture at the request of the customer. A pre-conditioner is sprayed to heavily soiled areas and additional spot removers are used as necessary.

We're now ready for the actual cleaning process to commence.

Housed in the truck are two tanks. One is a fresh water tank, the other a recovery tank that will collect all the dirty water that contains all the bad stuff you want removed from your home and carpets.

From the truck, a vacuum hose and high-pressure hose are attached to a cleaning wand. As the trigger on the wand is engaged, water is forced through a heat exchanger to the point of vaporization. This "steam" is then mixed with a measured quantity of cleaning solution and then injected into the pile of the carpet. Immediately, the continuous vacuum extracts the dirt from the carpet and collects it in the recovery tank.

After the carpet is cleaned, the furniture is replaced and plastic tabs or blocks are placed under the feet of furniture. The pile of the carpet is then "*raked" to help with the drying process. The carpets are left damp to the touch and usually dry within 3-6 hours depending on humidity and air circulation.

*Raking – removing all footprints with a carpet rake…aka grooming.  Also, this aligns the carpet fibers in a upward position to decrease drying times. Grooming evenly distributes the carpet protector as well (if carpet protector is applied)
